The Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island

On Saturday we had the entire day to explore NYC on our own, before heading to Boston the next day. The first thing on our agenda was the Statue of Liberty & Brian was determined that we had to go early. And he was right, that was a very good move. We took the subway to the area where we got on the ferry boat that took us to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Since we were some of the first ones of the day, we got upgraded tickets that allowed us to go up into the base of the statue, which was so cool! They only let a limited number of people do that each day. It was so neat to be so up close to Lady Liberty...we were feeling extra "American!"
Our last subway ride, thank goodness! Forgot to mention earlier that Todd and Angela were pretty certain they found a dead man in the subway...eek! I would be okay with never, ever riding on the subway ever again.

NYC QUIK #4
The One World Trade Center is a pretty amazing building...it towers over all of the other NYC buildings.
I didn't realize that the internal structure of the Statue of Liberty has a mini Eiffel Tower frame inside of it.
Immigration Hall at Ellis Island...
