After exploring Philadelphia all day, we loaded up and went to see Washington's Crossing of the Delaware. I'm pretty sure the kids' favorite part was playing tug-of-war!
Then we went back to the hotel and decided to DoorDash Chili's to our room so we wouldn't have to get out again. There were several places to eat around our hotel, but I was exhausted. I was really ready to be home at this point!
Mackenzie managed to spend ALL of her money on souvenirs...she got a lot of postcards and some other really cool things!
On Tuesday morning, we headed out for a day in Philadelphia. Brian flew back home this afternoon, so he just got to spend the first part of the day with us. We started out in the National Constitution Center, then toured Independence Hall & then we had free reign to explore the city and work on the photo scavenger hunt the kids were given. It was pretty cool to see right where the Declaration of Independence was signed! I loved the shirts we wore on this day too, with all of the kids signatures on the back. We got to see the Liberty Bell, Ben Franklin's grave, Betsy Ross's house, the US Mint, and so much more. We went to Reading Market for lunch and let me just say...the long walk was worth it! A Philly cheesesteak sandwich is not something I would ever choose to order, but it just seemed like something I had to try since we were in Philly! It. Was. So. Good. Mackenzie wasn't a fan, but she was missing out big time! The Amish donuts were amazing too! It's a good thing we walked so much on this day!
After lunch, we made our way to the Museum of the American Revolution and that was where Brian had to leave us. I missed him the minute he was gone! (We spent a lot of money on Uber during this trip, getting him back and forth to the airport, but we really didn't have any other choice.) We wandered around the city for another couple of hours and ended our day with ice cream at DQ and then a group pic in front of Independence Hall. I kind of felt like we walked the entire city two or three times, trying to find all of the scavenger hunt sites...when I come back with Madison, we are going to have a better plan for that!

One of the coolest things we saw on this day was Benjamin Franklin's actual tent. They keep it in a dark, protected room and only bring lights up on it for a few minutes at a time during scheduled show times, to preserve it.
