Before heading back to camp for week 5, we went to WHBC's 4th of July fellowship on Sunday evening. Lots of good food, visiting with old friends, playing a couple of intense games of corn hole, (Poppa & G-Ma beat me & daddy), and a fireworks show at the end of the night...good times!
In our defense, they had better bean bags than we did!
Mackenzie ran around with her friend Hannah the whole time.
The highlight of Jonah's summer, for sure, was Owen's visit to Falls Creek at the end of June! I bet he asked me at least twice a day when Owen was coming, literally since the day we got out of school in May! When the day finally came, it was very exciting, to say the least. Jonah sat on his bed looking out the window and waiting for Owen to get there, hours before it was time for them to arrive. He and Madison both drew several pictures for Owen & Madelyn...I love their sweet friendships! It was a fun afternoon of showing the McConnell's around FC, then we went to Smokin' Joe's for dinner & then came back to FC for the evening service.
We are so thankful for these sweet friends that God brought into our lives through CHA this year!
We got Madelyn & Owen FC bears from the gift shop!
Kelly's reaction to Matt licking the gum tree like this was priceless! Yuck!
Week 4 of camp was a great one because we were all back together again! One of our favorite parts of the week is the Block Party on Wednesday nights. The kids enjoy helping with the set-up and then playing the games before the service gets out. Another super fun thing this week was a surprise visit from Chico, Todd & Angela's chihuahua! The kids loved it! We were also VERY excited about the McConnell's visiting us at the end of the week. (So many pics of that day that I'm making it a separate post!)
They opened up the zipline for staff on Monday morning, so we decided to go do it since we wouldn't have to wait in a hot line. This was my first time to biplane and it was very fun! Mackenzie still doesn't want anything to do with it, and Jonah is too little.
Highlight video of week 4!
Madison is Daddy's adventurer!
Even week menu...let's see...our favorite Caf meals on even weeks are sweet & sour chicken, spaghetti night, and surprisingly enough...tilapia! The kids are also big fans of mac'n cheese lunch days.
Carrots in one hand, a brownie in the other...well-balanced meal right there! (Jonah gets carrots EVERY single meal we eat in the caf! He loves them!)
One of their favorite times of the day is in the evenings, while everyone is in their cabins eating dinner...we go down to the rec fields and let the kids take turns driving the golf cart. Sshhh, don't tell!
So funny!
This is what our room looks like much of the time!
Another one of their favorite things at camp...visiting the Green room!
We went over to Crosstimbers to visit some friends for a few minutes one afternoon.
This texting conversation between the kids and Brian while I was out walking made me laugh. "She would probably freak out if she found us missing." LOL!
Angela carried Chico into our room in her backpack, unzipped it & he hopped right out!
Chico was a big fan of CheezIts!
Block Party set-up was a lot of work each week, but I really think everyone enjoyed it.
Mackenzie worked and worked at this until she finally figured out how to do it!
Madison tried too, but never stuck with it long enough to get to the top!
I love these pictures of Madi so much!!
Jonah's hair! =0)
It was a bumpy ride back there!
The Shire door is just their size!
Billy Young from Florida was the guest speaker for the morning teaching times this week. He is such a nice guy & I think he is going to have Brian come to Florida in September to speak at a conference. I can't let him go to Florida without me! =0)
This girl & her stuffed animals!
Mackenzie spent a lot of time helping Daddy with things & hanging out with the program staff this summer.
