After our Broadway show and pizza in Times Square, we went back to the hotel for a little bit to freshen up (since we got lost earlier and didn't have time to do that before the Lion King) and headed to the Empire State Building. Mackenzie is a big Percy Jackson fan, and apparently the Empire State Building is a big deal in that book, so she was all about this! We tried to get there in time for the sunset, but it was pretty much dark by the time we got up there. I wasn't overly excited about doing this, but I actually enjoyed it so much more than the first time Brian and I went up there...it wasn't nearly as windy and cold this time, so it was a much more enjoyable experience. Finally, we ended our day at Carlos Bakery, and of course I got the strawberry shortcake. Seriously the BEST strawberry shortcake I have ever had! We logged 23,798 steps, so its safe to say we were exhausted by the end of the night. But did I mention how much fun we had in NYC with just the girls?! Loved it so much!
She brought her Percy Jackson shirt, especially for this visit to the Empire State Building!
Up we go!
Brian asked if there was a 600th floor, like in Percy Jackson, just for Mackenzie!
Empire State Building interview time!
A true Percy Jackson fan brings her book to the top of the Empire State Building!
Leave it to Brian to get in trouble for picking up a much bigger version of this statue, meant for display purposes only.
If this doesn't instantly make you think of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, you didn't grow up in the 90's...
