Baby Shower

I was so happy to host Connie's baby shower at my house! The only person missing at the shower was the guest of honor! =0( Connie was admitted to the hospital on the Friday night before the shower on Sunday, and wasn't able to be there. We contemplated postponing, but Connie wanted to go ahead and do it and let her girls & the Grandma's be the guests of honor in her place. Kari, Wendi, April, Jill, Brandi & Krista were all hostesses and I couldn't have done it without them! We were able to Face Time with Connie so that she could watch what was happening and talk to everyone who came. And there were A LOT of people that came...the best count we got was 75! I didn't know we could fit that many people in our house! It was come & go, but for the most part, it was wall-to-wall the entire time. I think everyone was comfortable and happy though and I loved having them in my home. So many people love the Easterwood's and wanted to celebrate the arrival of their baby girl with them!

I had so much fun with the decorations! I made this bunting banner for the front of the table & thought it turned out so, so cute!

And of course there were cookies...lots & lots of cookies! I think I had 11 boxes of cookies & I ended up with only one box to take to Connie when it was over.

We had all kinds of delicious food!

Another of my favorites from the shower was the mason jars we used for drinks. I borrowed around 4 dozen of them, and then bought a few dozen. I took raffia and little pink tags and popped a pink & white straw in there & it was adorable! So easy & cute!

I got this banner at Hobby Lobby with a 40% off coupon...I decorated the hearts with a chalkboard marker.

We held a picture of Connie since she couldn't be there!

Connie requested that we have everyone give them baby name suggestions, because they didn't have a name picked out. I put them all together with a little hook and took them to her at the hospital a few hours after the shower. I think the suggestions must have inspired them, because that same night, they settled on "Kelsey Brynn" when she made her appearance just after midnight! I don't think anyone suggested that, but it is so beautiful!

Brian & Connie's moms were so sweet & helped the girls open the gifts. Brian came towards the end of the shower to get in on the fun!

There were a lot of pretty little girls running around during the shower too!

Katelyn & Kinley were so cute opening gifts! I know they can't wait for their baby sister to get here!

The gift opening was a bit crazy at times, with girls gathered all around! Kari did an awesome job of writing down the gifts for Connie so she would know who got what!

I almost forgot to add...we had our very own photographer for this special occasion! Mike Pierce came to drop Gwen off with Wendi and ended up staying and taking pictures for us, which was awesome!!! He took nearly 300 pictures though! =0)

There were friends from church, Regent, and members of Connie's family there. I worried that people wouldn't be comfortable, but I think it was just fine.

About 20 minutes into the shower, Mackenzie emerged in her pirate costume...I have no clue why, and I was too busy to deal with it...so a pirate she was! I love that girl!

OH, and I can't forget...I never could have done all of this without my mom!! She's the BEST!

We missed having Connie there so much!

Mackenzie was determined to make a dress for Kelsey...Grandma Baldwin was so sweet to help her sew this precious dress. It is so tiny and sweet! I also helped her make a no-sew blanket for the baby too.

The girls had a blast jumping on the trampoline at the end of the shower!

Oh, to be a carefree child again... =0)

I love this one!

On an after note: after cleaning and preparing for the shower for a couple of weeks, the actual event of having the shower, and then spending that entire night afterwards at the hospital until 6:00 AM, it  literally took me two weeks to recuperate! =0) I loved it though and wouldn't have had it any other way!

 

Shane & Sara's Wedding

We were so blessed to be a part of Shane & Sara's wedding on May 29th. It was such an honor for Brian to officiate their wedding. Shane was in Middle School when we were at WHBC, and he was a part of a boy's Bible study small group that Brian led. Those boys...Shane, Ben, Shawn and Dillon, will always have a special place in our hearts. We drove down for the rehearsal on the Sunday before the wedding on Friday night. The venue was a beautiful vineyard & thankfully the rain held off for the wedding and they were able to do it outside. (The rehearsal had to be done inside because it was raining, and that would not have been an ideal situation for the actual wedding!) We met my mom at Quail Springs Mall on Friday afternoon and she picked the kids up and kept them for the night. It was so much easier not having them there for the wedding. We drove back to Tulsa after the reception & the kids spent the night with her since she was coming to Tulsa to help with Connie's baby shower the next day. The wedding was beautiful & we couldn't be happier for Shane & Sara! They are a beautiful couple & we pray that God blesses their marriage in every way!

May Misc

May is the only month of the year that rivals December for the prize of "crazy busy!" Especially this year, it seems like it was just one thing after another. By the time we got to the last week of school, I was SO ready for a break!

I took this picture when we were on our way to Shane & Sara's wedding rehearsal in Edmond. It rained more in April and May than maybe ever before...there was flooding like this everywhere. This was supposed to be a road...needless to say, it was closed!

I heard Mackenzie start crying really loud one day...she said Madison hit her on the back...well, yeah...I'd say she definitely hit her...ouch! I think it goes without saying that she was in big trouble for this.

Play dates are always fun!

Madison has been doing speech therapy with Ms. Judy once a week to work on her "f" sounds. She is doing very well and loves going every week!

I was trying to video the way Mackenzie was acting while doing her homework. This video completely cracks me up! The way she keeps looking at the camera is hysterical! I love this about her!

Poor Jonah...this is what happens when you have big sisters that don't want you bothering their stuff...

There have been many times that we've found him wearing their dress-up shoes...hey, at least he's wearing part of a prince costume too!

Fashionista!

She was fascinated by this humongous strawberry...fascinated wasn't the word that came to my mind when I saw it...maybe hormones or something?? I don't know, but EW! That's just not right!

Madison picked all of these books at the book sale...I think there's a theme going on here! She has been begging us for a puppy. We just can't do it...too much responsibility and time added to our already hectic schedule.

Headed into the Senior Breakfast...Jonah and Daddy were looking all handsome in their khakis!

I'm quite certain we made this breakfast harder for Daddy, but I'm glad he still wanted us there!

During church, Mackenzie drew silly things on Madison's face on the cover of a Channel and it hurt Madison's feelings...so she wrote her a note back on another one, and then Madison returned a note to her. So sweet!

Nearly every time we are at church, we have to look for (and usually chase) the rabbit!

Yea for the dentist & no cavities!

Soon it will be Jonah's turn and I'm just honestly not sure at all how he will handle that!

Madi and Jonah like to play "school," and they were having naptime.

The kids got to spend an evening playing at the Bradford's house while we went to dinner with them at Abuelo's to talk about Disney World, since they are going in a few weeks. We love their family!

This was on Mother's Day...Madison had a virus and ran a high fever. She seems to do that every now and then. After some Tylenol & a bath, she was much better.
