Precious Prayers

I love listening to the girls pray. You just never know what they are going to say, or what they are going to do during prayers. Here are some funny and sweet prayer stories that have happened recently. I love hearing them pray to God, and I can just imagine him smiling as he listens to them!

* Mackenzie: "God, please help Daddy to get better at cooking wienies." (because he completely burnt them) It was hilarious! And she was serious!

 * Mackenzie wasn't feeling well and asked to talk to G-Ma on the phone. She asked G-Ma to pray for her cold, and she smiled the entire time G-Ma prayed for her over the phone. Her little eyes were just twinkling. It was so sweet!

* One evening, Madison prayed that Jonah would stop crying during the prayer at dinner. Well, that sounds like a good thing to pray about to me! =0)

* Madison prays for Pony on a normal basis. She also prays for her friends when they are sick and miss a day of ELP. Actually, we pray for them for weeks after they are sick, because she remembers and says we must pray for them every night! One day when she was at home, she said "I bet my friends are praying for me!" I love that!

* Jonah had his well check and shots last week, and the girls prayed for him before his appointment. Precious!

*And, my favorite...I had a very bad headache one day and Madison came over, hugged me and said, "I will pray for you to feel better Mommy." Then she prayed, "Dear Lord, please help my mommy's head to feel better. I love Mommy. Amen" Oh. My. Stars!!! Sweetest. Thing. Ever! And my head did get better...God surely heard that sweetness and couldn't resist answering her prayer! This was really one of the sweetest moments I have ever had with Madison.

There are so many more that I'm sure I am forgetting right now, but these were just too good not to share! I know someday when my kids are all grown, I will look back on these things and smile, laugh, cry, and be so glad that I wrote about them so I could remember these special times that we shared!

Another Mickey Mouse Fan

He can't help it...it's in his genes to like Mickey Mouse! The second he hears the music to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse start, it completely captures his attention. =0) I can't wait to take him to Disney World in December!

Like I said...complete concentration! Mickey is pretty captivating!

The New Mackenzie

Mackenzie was so excited to show off her new glasses at school the day after she got them! She had several inches of hair cut off the weekend before this, so she was going back to school looking very different from the last time she was there, with short hair and glasses. The combination of those two things makes her look way too grown up! Of course we had to take some pictures before she left for school! 

I am really amazed at how well she had adjusted to having them. She is very responsible and takes good care of them.

Mackenzie thought it was pretty neat that she had new glasses, like Mrs. Brenneman!

Happy Wakin's

 

I love waking up to these sweet faces every day! This was one morning right after we got Mackenzie off to school with the Easterwood's. Our routine on Tuesdays and Thursdays is to wake up and get Mack ready to go, fix her lunch and feed her breakfast. Connie picks her up at 7:50 or so, and then I get ready myself, get Jonah and Madison ready, and then take Madi to ELP. Then Jonah and I enjoy some 1-on-1 time while both girls are at school! 

 Madi is our little sleeper! 

Madi was taking good care of brother, by sharing her Cinderella pillow, her (my) soft blanket, and even Pony! She loves him a whole lot to share Pony with him! Looks like he was enjoying it!

  

  

 Jonah is finally starting to roll over more and spend more time on his tummy. It has just been too much work up until now!

Look Who Got Glasses!

I took Mackenzie for a routine eye check up, and we got a "fun," somewhat unexpected surprise...she got new glasses! Because of my history with glasses from the time I was 3 years old, we have always watched the girls' eyes closely, so I guess I shouldn't have been surprised at this news. Her appt was at 9:00 and Daddy met us there so that I could go to Xfit at 10:00. I walked out just as Dr. Groves was walking in...I definitely didn't deserve the mom of the year award on this day! If I would have thought he was going to tell us she needed glasses, I obviously would have stayed. When it was all said and done, I think Brian was happy that he got to share that time with Mackenzie anyway, so it was okay. Mackenzie was SO excited about getting new glasses! She's all about fashion, so I think it's just another fun fashion accessory to her. I'm not sure the realization has set in that she has to wear them ALL of the time yet. Dr. Groves said that hopefully the problem will correct itself by the time she is 9 or so, and then maybe she won't need them anymore. After Xfit, I picked Mack up from the church and took her to Eyemart to pick out her new glasses. The first pair she picked up were very thick fuschia frames that she just thought were beautiful. Thankfully I was able to persuade her to look at some other pairs and she just fell in love with these purple ones. Shopping for glasses proved to be somewhat stressful with an overexcited 6 year old, a "neglected" 4 year old, and a screaming baby...I'm sure we put on quite a show for everyone in Eyemart! Madison sat in a chair and repeatedly said, "I'm not special" over and over, because she wasn't getting glasses. OH. MY! Can you say D-R-A-M-A?!?! It helped a little once I gave her my sunglasses to wear. The nice lady who was helping us even gave Madison her own case for (my) sunglasses, because she felt so sorry for her. 

I do wish Mackenzie didn't have to deal with glasses, but I am thankful that the problem is correctable and not too severe. Also, I am very glad technology has improved and her lenses aren't half an inch thick like they were when I was little! I think the thing that I dislike about this whole glasses thing the most is how GROWN UP she looks! It's like she grew up overnight. =0)

Just pitiful...she was totally distraught that Mackenzie was getting new glasses, and she wasn't. "I'm not special." over and over...if only she understood that having glasses isn't really all that fun.

8 Months Old

At 8 months old, Jonah is sweeter than ever, but he has a new nickname..."baby Jaws!" This boy BITES me all the time when I am feeding him. I don't know what to do about it. He has 4 teeth on the top (they all came in during the same week) and 2 on the bottom, and he knows how to use them! I have had to start thumping his little cheek and saying, "No, no!" when he bites me. It breaks his heart and mine too, but I don't know what else to do! He doesn't mean any harm, it's just fun to use those new things he has in his mouth! Hopefully we'll move past this little issue soon. Breastfeeding is going so well with Jonah and I would hate to have to stop because of this. 

Jonah is finally starting to roll around some. I didn't think this would ever happen! He truly is the sweetest, happiest little guy. That being said, he can squeal and throw a fit like none other! If he wakes up and isn't being held, he lets me know real quick that he doesn't like it. If I take something away from him, he instantly starts crying and pitching a fit. And, the second I start putting him in the car seat, he arches his back and cries. For the most part though, he is very happy and content. He is definitely the "baby" of the family...I haven't exactly done a good job of getting him on a set schedule, I hold him a LOT, he still sleeps in a pack 'n play in our room (and in bed with me half of the time), and I feed him pretty much any time he wants to eat. And, I don't see a problem with any of it! One thing I have figured out by now is how very, very quickly it all passes. So I am determined to soak up every second and not waste time worrying about doing everything perfectly. 

At 8 months old, I love hearing Jonah laugh...it is the cutest sound I have ever heard! And I love it that he is such a little cuddler. There is nothing sweeter than when he lays his head down on my shoulder with his little arm wrapped around my neck. Except maybe when I say, "Give Momma lovin's!" and he leans his face into mine and gives me kisses. Yep, that's definitely the sweetest thing ever...

Thank you, Jesus for the precious gift of Jonah Mark! Watching him grow every day is one of the greatest joy's of my life. What a blessing he is!

Sunday Afternoon Swing with Daddy

Jonah and Daddy enjoyed a beautiful Sunday afternoon on the swing in the backyard. Jonah loves his Daddy! He will just sit and watch him work on his computer for the longest time. Now that he's getting bigger and more interested in everything, he thinks he needs to "help" on the computer too! Especially since Daddy has taught him to play games on the iPad already! I love my boys so much!
