Jonah School Stuff January

Jonah absolutely loves Kindergarten! He has learned so much this year & we are very proud of him! Jonah has this red and black checked fleece jacket that he loves and wants to wear every single day. Even if its freezing outside and he really needs his big blue jacket, he insists on wearing this red and black one too. His buddy Owen got a jacket kind of like his for Christmas, and imagine their surprise when they both showed up to school one day in their matching jackets AND Mrs. Garner matched with them too! How fun is that?! =0) 

Then a few days later, they both showed up in black and white plaid shirts and matched again! Haha!

OKC National Memorial Field Trip

Mackenzie's 6th grade class went to the OKC bombing memorial at the end of January. I have only been in the actual museum part one other time, about 12 years ago. It was a very sobering experience, especially thinking about my Poppa Jim being in the Murrah building on April 19, 1995. I am so grateful to God that he had protected my Poppa that day! After touring the museum, we went to Hideaway for lunch. Brian was flying to Canada later in the day, but he was able to meet us there for lunch before going to the airport. It was kind of funny, because he and I ended up sitting at a table with two 6th grade boys. We sat there and watched Mackenzie visiting and laughing with her friends, and our hearts were just so thankful!

These two are kind of a lot alike...and they kind of like each other a lot...how 'bout that?!

Life has been a little crazy lately, but I sure do love him! 

YEC

The theme for this years YEC was "Velocity." The stage set-up was so cool, with this huge blue car made out of styrofoam. The kids came down with us for set-up on Saturday and G-Ma came and picked Jonah and Madison up on Sunday afternoon before things really got started. Mackenzie decided to stay with us, and she actually ended up spending the entire time with her friend Hannah at Open Door once YEC started. She even slept in their cabin Sunday night, which was really exciting for her & honestly a little sad for me. It was strange for me to watch her running around like one of the teenagers...a reality check that this is really the season we are entering into with her. 

We got to stay in the Thompson Lodge this time, which is always so nice. Brian works so hard to make this weekend amazing & I'm very proud of him! Greg Stier was the main speaker this year, and Brian also had several youth pastors from around the state help with the Good News training on Monday morning, which was very neat. Other than it being FREEZING COLD, everything about YEC was excellent!

The GOOD NEWS Gospel strategy that Brian helped create is a really great tool to help teach people to share the Gospel!

Not a great picture...but it was the only one I got of them together, so I'm keeping it! 

We went into Ardmore Saturday night after setting up and ate dinner at Interurban. This was one of the best meals I have EVER gotten at a restaurant. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it! 

I guess that's one way to eat a muffin!

It was FREEZING COLD riding around on the golf cart! 

This gave me flashbacks of YEC 3 years ago, when Jonah lost Lucky...we held onto him real tight this time! 

It was fun to sit in on one of Jamie's breakouts and listen to him teach!
