Oh man, the food...ALLLLL the food...
You would think since we were stuck at home, unable to go anywhere or spend money on anything non-essential, that we would have saved a lot of money during the quarantine. Welllll...let's just say we realized exactly how much food we go through with 5 people eating breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner at home every single day of the week, and it was a LOT! Pretty much every 7 to 10 days, I would do a Walmart pick up order that cost around $250. It was always very exciting to the kids when Daddy came home with a van load full of food! Hahaha! It's just a happy sight to have a fridge and pantry full of good food to eat.
Truly though, we are very thankful that we have a beautiful, comfortable home & plenty of food to eat, without financial stress during this time when so many people are struggling. God has been so faithful to provide for us & meet all of our needs!
One thing I did love during this time was learning to cook some new things...for instance, we now have what is referred to by Madison as our "fancy dinner"...complete with real mashed potatoes! I'm not sure that I should be proud that I just learned how to make mashed potatoes by myself, at almost 38 years old, but whatever! Ha! I also discovered a new taco/cornbread casserole that the kids love & I learned how to make French toast!
Madison, our little baker, made muffins, cupcakes, cinnamon toast...OH yeah and we also learned to make chocolate chip cookies from scratch! They were so good!
So I think its easy to see that we were not exactly counting calories or eating "healthy" during this time. Third trimester, ya know?! I just keep telling myself that it won't always be like this, but for now...well...let's EAT!! =0)))
There's a first time for everything, right?! My first time EVER to make mashed potatoes...what can I say?! I bake cookies...I don't cook...but maybe I'm getting a little better since I'm being forced into it!
Brian took good care of us & went on all of our grocery runs. I tried to order online as much as possible to make it easy for him. Going shopping for groceries is not one of his favorite things to do!
We had lots of "breakfast for dinner" nights!

I got lots of texts from Brian like these..."which butter?" or "this kind?" =0) He did so good!
Craziest thing...Brian waited for over 2 1/2 hours past when they said our order was ready for pick up...finally got our food...around $250 worth...and then a few days later I got an email saying the order had been cancelled and we were never charged for it. Wow! Such a pain to have to wait that long, but it ended up being a blessing to us anyway!
Such a fun treat!
G-Ma brought us strawberry pizza one day...and it wasn't even my birthday!! YUM!
Another of Madison's muffin creations...
She made this breakfast all on her own!
