St. Louis Zoo

On Monday (Memorial Day) we went to the St. Louis Zoo. We knew that it would be crazy busy, but we decided to get there early to try and beat the crowd and avoid the hottest part of the day. That was a great plan...the zoo has free admission, and we were able to do the Children's zoo and the Stingray exhibit during the first hour it was open, for free also. One of my favorite parts of the day was feeding the stingrays. Both of the girls gave it a try, which shocked me...they both only wanted to do it once, but I was so proud of them for trying! Another highlight was the brand new baby elephant. We just happened to be in the right place at the right time, and got to see it just as it was coming out for the day. It was so cute!! We had a great time, but one thing is for certain...when we go to Disney, we are going to have to rent a stroller for both girls to ride in. They whined and fought the entire time over who got to ride in the stroller. Aaaghhh!!!! By 12:30, it was very hot and we were all ready to leave!
This was Jonah's first trip to the zoo. He wore his safari gear, just for the occasion!

I love this picture so much! My two favorite guys...
I think Jonah had fun on his first trip to the zoo! He likes riding in the front of the stroller, where he can see everything! His little cheeks get so red when he gets hot.  He stayed awake as long as he could, but he finally had to give it up.
This baby elephant is 1 month old. She looks so little, but I was amazed to hear that she weighed 200 lbs at birth!
Another really cool thing we saw was the hippo's. There were two of them kind of playing/fighting in the water. It's fun to see animals doing something other than just standing there looking bored!

Mackenzie was very into posing as animals. The freezing cold penguin exhibit was wonderful...except for the smell, and the fact that the girls starting whining about being cold the second we got in there. Keep in mind that just seconds before, they were SOOOO hot!
Madison picked "Waddles" the penguin, for her souvenir!
This is what happens when Daddy gets ahold of the camera...he takes a bunch of weird pictures like this!
These are some pictures I did on Instagram with my phone...the caption on this one was
"Jonah says Hi, from the St. Louis Zoo!"

For Mackenzie's souvenir, she wanted this little bottle with an "M" on it and a shell inside. I thought it was funny that out of everything she could have chosen, this is what she picked!
Jonah wasn't too worried about souvenirs!
