Mackenzie's class went to an assisted living center this week to perform some songs and visit with the residents. I love it that they do things like this...there is nothing sweeter than watching children interacting with older people. They sang some Christmas songs, some of the kids played songs on the piano, they did their 12 days of Christmas song, and then they recited and acted out the Christmas story in Luke chapter 2. Each of the kids made cards to give to someone, and Mackenzie said that Mrs. English had been practicing with them in class about what to say to the people there. Mackenzie gave one of her cards to this sweet little lady, who hugged and kissed her! After that, I noticed that there was a man who no one was talking to, so I suggested that Mackenzie go say hi to him and give him her other card. At first she was shy and didn't want to, but when I reminded her that it would be kind of like talking to Poppa Jim, she decided she could do it! Mackenzie speaks so softly that I kept reminding her to lean in close so they could hear her!
Mrs. English's grandmother lives in this facility...I think someone said she is 101 years old...wow! She looks amazing! Connie and I rode together, and afterwards we went to lunch at Tazikis. It was a fun morning all around! And don't you just know that these kids brought such joy and happiness to this place! This is what sharing the love of Christ and the message of his birth is all about...
Mackenzie thought it was very special that she got to be Mary!
Her part to recite was:
"And so it was, that while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn." Luke 2:6-7

So sweet...you know this just made their day!
