Brian lived in Ogden, Utah for two and a half years when he was a kid. They actually moved halfway through his 2nd grade year, when my mom was his teacher. Even now, she remembers being sad when he moved away. Brian went to Uintah Elementary School for half of 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades, and then they moved back to Oklahoma when he started 5th grade. I sure am glad they moved back! We were talking on this trip, about how different both of our lives would have looked if his family never would have moved back to OK.
It was so fun to drive around and see all of these places from his childhood: the house they lived in, the park where they played, their elementary school, where they rode bikes (WAY too far from home), the amusement park they went to, and even the place Brian became a shoplifter. Hahaha! Its a Starbucks now, but it used to be a convenience store, and that's where he stuffed a bunch of candy in his fanny pack and went behind the store to eat it. Smart one, that boy! =0) LOL! This is a story he tells often, so it was really funny to see where it actually happened.
There's just something special about revisiting childhood memories like this. I know it meant a lot to Brian, and I really enjoyed getting a glimpse into what his life was like when they lived in Utah.
Jack took a good long nap while we drove around!
This was their house. It didn't look anything like what I had envisioned.
Not a bad view from their house!
This is where their friends Casey and Candace lived.

This was a hill they used to skateboard and ride bikes down, near their house.
Such a beautiful backdrop!
Weber State University, where the boys used to ride their bikes.
Here it is...the crime scene. LOL! We figured we might as well drive through and get something, since we were already there!
The gates of Hill Air Force Base, where Brian's dad worked while they lived there.
Lagoon amusement park.
