Basketball season came to an end for Mackenzie today, with a win in double-overtime during their last tournament game. This came after back to back losses the two days before, so it was very exciting to end with a win. But the best part is that Mackenzie made a basket during this game!! I just almost cried, I was so happy for her! I'm not sure if she will play again next year, so I love that she scored in this last game.
We really couldn't be any prouder of her!
After the girls took a group picture, Mackenzie came over to me and just burst into tears. At first I thought something bad had happened, but then I realized that she was just sad that it was the last game she would get to play with this group of girls. They are all 7th graders and will play together again next year, but she won't be able to play with them in 9th grade. She has such a sensitive, sweet heart, and doesn't like "lasts" or "goodbyes."
Mackenzie has loved basketball since she was 5 years old...she isn't aggressive by nature...but she loves the game and is a great team player! I'm so proud of her for sticking with it, even when it hasn't been easy. She has grown so much this season! We are very thankful for the coaches who have invested in her this year and for the friendships she has made! #gocrusaders
Video of Mack's basket!!
Their first tournament game was on Thursday. Jack and I were the only fans on this day, and Mackenzie had a great game. She even got fouled and got to shoot free throws. They didn't go in, but she was so close!
Jack cheered sister on until he just couldn't take it anymore.
Friday's game was a beat-down, and I didn't think it would ever end. We played Crossings, and their fans were not nice at all. Poppa & Louise got to come to this one. They are so faithful to support our kids any time they can!
And here are the pics from after the game on Saturday. We had a big crowd there to cheer Mack on, and I'm so glad everyone was there to see her score! G-Ma and Rex, Poppa, and all of our family was there. We wanted a win so bad, so after two overtimes, I was completely stressed out and exhausted! =0) And extremely happy that we won!
GiGi and Mackenzie have become good friends.
