Mackenzie has asked for a pet for a long time, so when we saw the hermit crabs in Port Aransas, we decided that would be a cheap, low-maintenance pet! Well, so far we have spent over $50 on these two hermit crabs! Ha,ha! We let Mackenzie pick out her crab...she picked a blue one with Dora painted on its back, and named it "Dora." Very appropriate! Then, we let her pick a crab for Madison...she picked a purple one with a rainbow painted on its back, and named it "Rainbow!" Very original names, don't you think?! Notice that there are no pictures of Madison with the crabs...there is a reason for that! Madison gets a little over-excited when we get the crabs out and doesn't exaclty know how to handle them right! She loves to point and grunt at them though. So cute!When we got home from vacation, we went to PetSmart and what do you know...they had a DORA hermit crab cage. How crazy is that?! I wasn't really planning on spending $30 for a box for them, but I think it was just meant to be! (These crabs better stay alive!) Mackenzie was very excited to introduce them to their new home! I think they like it too...they crawled all over the place as soon as we put them in there! We even bought them bigger, pretty painted shells to grow into! (Now maybe Mack will stop wanting a dog!)
