1st grade is off to a great start for Jonah! He loves going to school and spending time with his friends. If you ask him what his favorite part of school is, he will definitely say "recess and lunch" without any hesitation! One fun thing we got to do at the beginning of the school year was go to a church in OKC to listen to Ken Ham talk about dinosaurs & creation from a biblical viewpoint.
On Jonah's first Parent/Teacher Conference paper, Mrs. Crabb listed his character strengths as attentiveness, obedience, and thoroughness...and things to work on as boldness and confidence...all things that we see at home too. And I love that she included a prayer that she is praying over Jonah this year, that went along with what we would like to see improvements on...1 Peter 5:6-7
"Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that at the proper time he might exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you."
We hear a lot about "shout-outs" and "blurt desserts" from Jonah...each day, if they don't blurt anything out when they aren't supposed to, they get a blurt dessert paper that they can save up and spend on fun things like bringing a stuffed animal to school or a trip to 7-11 once they get a bunch of them. A few kids are given "shout-outs" each day by Mrs. Crabb, when she recognizes something she can praise them for. Jonah loves getting shout-outs! =0)
And I think this is the funniest thing...I walked by his classroom one day and saw him sitting in this little desk right beside Mrs. Crabb's desk and my first thought was "uh-oh, why did he get in trouble and have to sit back there?" But nope...this is the VIP desk...and the kids LOVE it when it's their turn to sit there!
We love Mrs. Crabb already and we can tell it's going to be a great year in 1st grade!

Scripture memory is hard...we have to work a lot on it, and we are so proud of Jonah for hiding God's word in his heart!
