(Disclaimer about this picture: the filter I used made the water look way prettier and bluer than it really was!)
One of the things I love the most about Port Aransas is that its a very relaxed, low-key vacation. There's not a whole lot to do in Port Aransas, other than play on the beach, go to Dairy Queen and go shopping for souvenirs! We slept in Tuesday morning and had a big breakfast (Grandma Baldwin is the best about that!) and then we headed to the beach. Let me just say--it is a LOT of work getting 3 kids, 4 adults, a ton of beach stuff, and a dog over to the beach! Even though it was literally just steps away! The kids had a blast playing in the water and building sand castles with Daddy and Grandma Baldwin. (I helped a little too--like for 3 minutes!) Apparently we didn't get enough sunscreen on Mackenzie, because she got a terrible sunburn and I felt so bad. As much work as getting TO the beach is, its just as much work getting BACK and getting cleaned up when staying in a trailer on the beach! After we got cleaned up, we went to some souvenir shops and then ate dinner at Dairy Queen. Just a few weeks after we were in Port Aransas, on August 25th, Hurricane Harvey came through and basically decimated the entire island. So sad...
Here are some pics of our first day at the beach!
Rise & shine, sleeping beauties!!
Jonah was determined to take his Batman into the water with him...thankfully we didn't lose him!
Me and my white skin stayed parked under the umbrella most of the time!
My favorite part of the day was getting sand leg massages from Madi!
Jonah was so excited about flying his kite!
This was a well-protected sand castle!
That chin!
After we got cleaned up, we went into town to some souvenir shops and to eat Dairy Queen for dinner.
It's always fun to drive by and see the house that the Stone's used to live in. Many great memories here!
This Momma felt BAD about this sunburned girl!
