Week FIVE with EFBC

The girls were at Falls Creek as campers again, for week 5, with our church. They both had friends going with them, so they were excited about that. Madi invited Emma, and several of Mackenzie's friends from school came again this year. She was concerned that there may be some drama, which there usually is, but I think they did okay for the most part. It was a good week at camp, but also a very terrible week. On Tuesday, a 12 year old boy had a cardiac event while in Baptist Lake. I just happened to have dropped Mackenzie and her friends off up there, right after it happened, not knowing it. As they walked down the hill to the lake, they saw the lifeguards doing CPR on the boy. Mackenzie was very shaken up by the whole thing, as they all were. A few days later, the boy passed away. Such a tragic, sad thing to happen, and something that Falls Creek has never experienced before. It was a stressful, hard situation for the leadership at FC. My heart went out to the lifeguards who were directly involved...they were completely crushed, even though they did absolutely nothing wrong. It was not a drowning accident and they did everything they could until paramedics got there. Sometimes tragic things happen and we just don't understand.
These pictures show some of the happy, fun things that happened. Mackenzie spent a lot of time with David, which I knew she would. A few months after summer ended, Mackenzie decided to break things off with him. He was a good friend for the past year or so, but I am proud of her for following her heart & making that decision. It's a good thing.
I'm really behind on blogging and its actually December when I'm typing this out...I know...way behind! We made the decision to leave EFBC this past month, so looking at these pictures is a little sad for me. While our kids have struggled with making friends at church, it has been our church home for the past 5 years, and we will miss it.
We are thankful for how God worked in the girls' lives at Falls Creek this week!
Fireworks on the 4th of July!
This was right before I took the kids up to Baptist Lake and dropped them off, not knowing what they were about to witness.
GMa sent mail packages to the kids and they loved it!
How completely cute is she?!
Accidental twinning with my girl! =0)))
Cuties!
We crashed their ICEE Date
The church clap was very popular this summer!
Thursday morning update...so very sad. It was a very somber day at camp.
Madi sent me this picture...hahaha! She has given Mackenzie such a hard time over David...she's got it coming when its her turn!
So fun to see these friends at camp one night! They all looked so cute and I looked like I live at camp all summer. =0)
The missions escape bag was a fun new thing to do this summer.
David got in on the mullet competition this week.
