Huntington Beach & a BIG Surprise!

Change of scenery! #mightaswellgoallthewaywest
After our little pit stop in Las Vegas, we had another 3-4 hour drive to Huntington Beach, California. Our original Spring Break plans didn't involve going to California or Disneyland at all...but about 10 days before our trip, we decided to change things up and surprise the kids...I mean, when are we going to be 6 hours from Disneyland again?! And it's just money, right?!
We were going to tell the kids where we were going in Vegas, but we decided to just wait and see how long we could keep the secret. We got into the LA area at dinnertime, picked up In-N-Out (YESSSS!!!) and took it to the beach for a little picnic. It was very windy & cold and we sat kind of huddled up by the playground, but it was still fun! We walked on the beach a little & Brian got to see where Ray Comfort does a lot of his open air preaching, which was very cool. Then it was finally time to pull our little surprise...I was SO excited! It was dark as we drove through LA & found our way over to our hotel. When we realized it was literally right down the street from Disneyland, we decided to just drive right to Disneyland and see if the kids would figure out where we were. Their reactions were so priceless!!! It was all worth keeping the secret, to be able to surprise them with "Hey guess what?! We're going to Disneyland TOMORROW--Like 10 hours from now!"
Priceless.
Brian's not a big fan, but I think he's crazy! Animal-style, no onions and well-done fries is the way to go!
Yes, I was wearing two jackets...it was COLD!!
So beautiful!
SURPRISE!!!
We stayed at a reasonably priced hotel that was less than a 10 minute Uber ride from Disneyland. It wasn't quite the same as staying on-property at Disney World, but it had fun theming, so it felt similar.
Just Driving Along...About to surprise them!
Here it is!
