1,992 Cookies & Counting

 From the end of January to the 14th of February, our house turns into a cookie factory! I'm pretty sure this was the 4th year to do the big Wallace order. I did a total of 166 dozen Valentine's cookies. Thankfully I was able to mix and bake the cookies at the church, which was so helpful! I was planning to bake at home, but our electricity went out and I had 5 cookies sheets filled with dough that had to be baked, so we all loaded up and spent the next 7 hours at the church and got all 166 dozen baked! I was a happy camper when I laid down in bed that night, with that behind me! Brian was a huge help in the preparation process, and then my mom and Connie helped decorate. I could never have done it without all of them! We kind of have it down to a fine art. I'm not sure what we will do next year, without use of the STBC kitchen, but we will figure something out. Maybe they will still let us borrow it for a few days! I know I will have to give up most of my Tulsa cookie orders, but I hope this is one I can hang on to!
When I posted this pic on FB, Brian commented that if you just glance real quick, it looks like a bunch of cocaine...really?! He's a mess!
I had a run in with this brand new (HUGE) Crisco...my FB caption was:
Crisco - 1 My Foot - 0
OUCH!!
Mackenzie keeps asking if she can help me with cookies when she is 10! I think it's sweet that she is eager to help! The sad thing is, when she's actually old enough to help, she probably won't want to anymore.
We let each of the girls put a tray of cookies into the oven, and they helped carry packages of cookies to the freezer once they were wrapped. They had fun helping! And I'm just so glad that no one got burned!
Looking at these empty boxes in the days leading up to decorating so many cookies is not exactly the greatest feeling!
Oh yes, have to throw this story in here...the girls went to spend the night with Grandma & Grandpa Baldwin the weekend we were decorating cookies. I was planning for Jonah to go too, but about 30 minutes before they came to get him, I discovered that Jonah had opened one of my pill bottles and eaten one of my buproprion pills (wellbutrin-anxiety med). I mean, I went into full-on panic mode! We discovered it because I was sweeping and found a pill on the floor...it was a brand new bottle and two pills were missing. I asked Jonah if he had seen another little orange pill like this, and he said with complete confidence "Yes, I ate it." I asked what it tasted like and he said, "Yucky." Brian wasn't entirely sure he really ate it, but I'm quite sure he did. I called Poison Control and they said to just watch him. Since we were sure he only had one (the rest were all accounted for), that wouldn't have been enough to do any damage. I still didn't feel comfortable sending him to the lake though, so he got to stay home with us. Instances like this remind me how quickly bad things can happen. I'm so very thankful that he was okay, and I am going to be doubly careful with all of our medications.
This = Happiness!!!
