Grandparent's Day

The Friday before Thanksgiving was "Grandparent's Day" at Regent. It is a very big deal and the kids have been working on learning scripture verses and songs for it since the beginning of the year. Mackenzie can belt out "On Christ the Solid Rock I Stand!" like no other! They also sang "My Country Tis of Thee" and quoted these scriptures.

Psalm 71:14, 19-20

"But as for me, I will hope continually

and will praise You, yet more and more.

For Your righteousness, O God,

Reaches to the heavens.

You who have done great things,

O God, who is like you?

You who have shown me many troubles and distresses,

Will revive me again

And will bring me up again

from the depths of the earth."

Jeremiah 29:11

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord,

plans for welfare and not for calamity,

to give you a future and a hope."

Memorizing the scripture verses has been a challenge for Mackenzie. It is something that she really has to work at, and she gets upset and frustrated that it is hard. She is a very quick learner, and this is the first time that something like this has really been expected of her. She has done a very good job learning them, and we are so proud of her! I am so thankful that she is in a school where she starts every day with Bible time, and Jesus is poured into her while she gets a wonderful education!

We had to sit up in the balcony, so Daddy snuck down and took a few pictures before the program started.

Mackenzie's wonderful teacher, Mrs. Brenneman! (I'm sure she was thrilled that Brian was taking her picture amidst the craziness of getting everyone situated! Ha!)

After Mackenzie's part was done, she came and sat with us to watch the rest of the program. 

After the program, we got to take G-Ma & Grandma and Grandpa Baldwin to Mackenzie's classroom to show them around, and so they could see some of the artwork Mackenzie has been doing at school. They have been learning about Oscar Claude Monet in art, and we were very impressed with Mackenzie's Eiffel Tower, Japanese Bridge, and Water Lilly pictures.  She also made each of us a card with a cornucopia on it. (She liked saying that word!) We are so thankful to have such wonderful Grandparents. On days like this, I miss my dad the most. He would have loved to be there to see Mackenzie perform and see where she goes to school.

Mackenzie adores G-Ma! I'm so very thankful that she has such a special relationship with her. It reminds me a lot of how I was with my Grandma Jean when I was little.

We love Grandma & Grandpa Baldwin and are so very thankful for them too!

We loved this special day at Regent! We walked away thinking, "We just HAVE to figure out how to continue to send our kids to school here." That seems kind of impossible due to the expense, but with God all things are possible, so we are just going to trust him!

I'm so glad Mackenzie & Kinley are in the same class! We have been hearing that they like chasing the boys on the playground. =0)

In a few years, Madison will be in a Regent uniform with them too! Look at her...she wasn't happy about having her picture taken. hahaha!

We went upstairs to look around, and one of the older Regent girls had this lizard. Madison really wanted to hold it, but once she got it in her hand she said it hurt her!

After touring the school and having some refreshments, we went to McAlister's for lunch and then went home to rest before the girls went to the lake with Grandma and Grandpa for the weekend.
