Mackenzie wasn't completely sure about dressing up this year, but she decided to be an army soldier, to match the Toy Story themed game her connection group was doing for Trunk or Treat at our church. We spent $2 on her hat and vest at Dollar Tree, and she wore Madison's camo shirt from the Patriotic program, my hunter green jacket & green pants, and she used Jonah's messenger bag to put candy in. It was perfect! I could get used to this cheap/homemade Halloween costume situation!
I loved it that Mackenzie still wanted to dress up for Halloween! I'm pretty sure when I was 13, I thought I was too cool for a costume. The last costume I remember wearing was a referee, when I was 11 or 12. Mackenzie is already talking about what costume she wants to wear next Halloween though, so I'm hoping we have at least a few more years of dressing up with her!
Oh look! Churrochino (Mackenzie's donkey) was dressed up in Army clothes too! These kids and their stuffed animals make me laugh!
I can hardly stand the cuteness! Jonah's cowboy get-up that G-Ma got him for his birthday made the perfect Halloween costume! I can't think of a single thing that would have made it any better! And it didn't cost me a penny, so that was just the icing on the cake! I told him to show me his mean cowboy face & the picture above is what I got. Love it so much! Hands down, the cutest cowboy I have ever, EVER seen! I told him he could take his guns as long as he left them in the holsters. He really wasn't sure about that plan, but finally settled for it, since that was the only option he had.
He was just so cute that I just kept taking pictures of him! Pretty sure this one will go down in history as my favorite Jonah Halloween costume ever!
G-Ma definitely splurged on this cowboy situation, pearl snap shirt and all, but I would say it was money well spent!

I encouraged the kids to think of costumes that wouldn't cost a lot of money this year, and they all came up with super cute ideas! Madison decided to be a tooth fairy...this was perfect for her...she got to wear her favorite fancy dress, makeup and glitter on her face, and even Pony dressed up as a tooth fairy too! We added a tooth brush as her magic wand, spent $2 on a crown and fairy wings at Dollar Tree & pinned some $1 bills onto her, and she was ready to go! She probably wanted to be a tooth fairy, because the "real" tooth fairy is pretty lousy at our house...somehow she always seems to forget to come the first night (or two) that a tooth is under the pillow. She's gotten lazy in her old age!
Prettiest brown-eyed tooth fairy I've ever seen! This just goes to show that you don't have to spend a lot of money to have a super cute costume. We took these pictures on Sunday evening, before going to WHBC for G-Ma's trunk or treat. I was SO glad we did it then, because between Sunday, the 27th and Thursday the 31st (Halloween) a lot had happened and I was already feeling extremely sick. I was in survival mode on Halloween and not in the mood for taking a lot of pictures.

I say it every year, but Fall is my favorite season of all! And I really love October! It was a busy month, celebrating Mackenzie's birthday, spending a week in NYC & Boston with Brian, the kids spending a week with G-Ma over Fall Break, keeping up with school & church activities, finding out I was pregnant at the end of the month (WOAH), dressing up for Halloween...yep, I'd say October was a pretty eventful time in life! =0)

I got to ride first class home from Chicago to OKC...in the very front row of the plane! I felt fancy...I got to drink my Diet Coke from a real glass & they came around with a big snack basket TWICE! I was quite cozy with extra room & a soft blanket too! =0) (There was a lady in that seat who wanted more privacy to breastfeed her baby & since I was in the VERY last row, they asked me to switch...proof that the last shall be first, huh?!)
I went up to Jonah's classroom to take pics of the kids with cool whip smeared on their faces one day, to get ready for our booth at the Fall Festival.
Mackenzie has started basketball practice...can't wait to watch her play school ball for the first time this year! Praying it is a good season for her.
Jonah's artwork was chosen to be on display in the hallway at school.
The weekend after we got back from our big trip, I decided it was time to finally paint Jonah's bedroom. I don't know what gave me the sudden urge to do it, but I'm glad it is done! (If I would have just waited one more week, I would have known I was pregnant and could have gotten out of helping! I obviously would not have put myself in a room with a bunch of paint fumes if I would've known.)
These pictures were just after the primer coat went on...I will do a post later on with the finished product...I love how it turned out though.

Mackenzie's friend, Miriam, was the 7th grade attendant for Homecoming.
We had a new roof put on at the end of October, because of hail damage from the spring before. Thankfully insurance covered the entire thing & we even had a little extra money left over! I will always remember the last week of October as the week I started having extreme nausea and laying in bed listening to the roofers pound away above me.
