This night of basketball sums up why I LOVE and HATE basketball at the same time.
Jonah finally got to be on the A Team Roster this week, which we were so happy about! He had a really great game...he was fouled and got to shoot 2 free throws and he made both of them! We were so glad to finally have a positive night of basketball for Jonah.
What we didn't realize until the next day was that some of the 8th grade boys got a video of him tripping at one point during the game (which was totally no big deal at all), and they turned it into a tiktok video and sent it out to the whole 8th grade boys group text, making fun of him. When he got to school the next morning, they were so proud of themselves that they showed it to Jonah. Then the boys were asking him if he was okay to walk up the steps or if he needed help. (insert sad face) After school, he told me about it and I came undone. 1000% NOT OKAY. Long story short, Brian reached out to Tommie Johnson and Coach Ezell and two boys ended up getting suspended. Man, kids at this age can just be so mean. It still makes my blood boil!
Jonah, there will always be people in this world who are not nice. Way to just brush them off and keep your head up! Your determination and work ethic are going to pay off if you stick with basketball. You make us so proud!!
