Little Pilgrim's Progress...And Covid

Jonah tested positive for Covid the second week in January, a few days after Mackenzie was positive, so he got to stay home from school for a week or so. There's no good time to get covid, but if he had to get it, this was probably the best time for him to have it. He had a huge project over The Little Pilgrim's Progress coming up, so we made it our mission to complete that while he was at home. He decided he wanted to build these scenes in Minecraft, which I was a little unsure about at first. But let me tell you...he did an AMAZING job on this! I was completely impressed! I sent him upstairs with his book, to make a list of the scenes he wanted to create. Then we kind of read through each scene and talked about how he would do that, and off he went with his ipad. I don't understand Minecraft at all, but Jonah loves it, so this was the perfect way for him to do this project. I'm pretty sure when he graduates college, this project from the 3rd grade will still be one of my very favorites!
Back to covid---thankfully Jonah really didn't feel all that bad, other than some congestion and a runny nose for a few days. Here are some pics of his project.

Covid Strikes Again.

Well here we go again...have I mentioned how much I really hate covid?! 2022 did not get off to a great start for us. Mackenzie tested positive on Friday, Jonah tested positive on Monday, Brian & Madi both felt sick on Monday but tested negative, Jack started feeling awful on Tuesday, and just so I wouldn't be left out, I started feeling sick the following Friday and Saturday at Madi's cheer competition. I never tested positive, so I'm not sure what I had. We didn't test Jack, because his Pediatrician said if others in the house have it, we can just assume that he has it too. I was worried about Madi during all of this, because she had a cheer competition at the end of the week in Dallas. If she were to test positive & not be able to do her part, the entire team may not have been able to compete. I kept her home one day, but since she tested negative, she went to school the rest of the week even though she didn't feel very good. If not for the cheer competition, she probably would have been home most of the week with Jonah and Mackenzie, but she couldn't miss practice. She was very tough and managed to push through. Thankfully Mackenzie and Jonah never really felt all that awful. I guess if we have to get it, its better for everyone to get sick at the same time and get it over with?! Mackenzie was a little stressed about missing a few play practices, but I was actually relieved that she got covid now instead of closer to or during the performance. Brian ended up testing positive at the end of the week, which would have been a big problem with YEC being on Sunday/Monday, but it was cancelled because of the rising covid cases in our state. This was a crazy few weeks for our family, and I'm really glad that's over.
Jack was the only one cute enough to have his picture taken while he was sick. Oh my sweet little red-cheeked baby! I hate it so bad when my babies are sick.

Who Needs a Spoon?!

Who needs a spoon, when you can use your hands instead?!
Mac-n-cheese = Happy Baby!
Jack loves mac-n-cheese almost as much as Madi does!
This definitely earned him a trip to the tub. =0)

10 Year Challenge

The latest FB trend is the 10 Year Challenge, and of course I jumped on that bandwagon. Our little family has grown a lot in 10 years!
As I look at these pictures, I am reminded of these song lyrics:
"And all my life, You have been faithful,
And all my life, You have been so, so good.
With every breath that I am able,
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God."
Has every day of the last 10 years been perfect and happy? Well, no...that isn't real life. But through every high and every low, God truly has been so, so good to us.
It's crazy to think that in another 10 years when we compare pics again, these kids will all be grown-ups (minus Jack!) and there could even be grandbabies in the picture. That totally puts into perspective how much life changes over the span of 10 years! That's also a great reminder for me, to make the most of every single day.

Goodbye 2021, Hello 2022!

It's kind of become tradition for the kids to spend the night with GMa on New Years Eve. This is a win for everyone! Brian and I went out for an early dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse & then picked up Crumbl cookies for dessert on our way home. We thought about going downtown or something, but we are officially old and just wanted to lay on the couch and binge watch our latest show. (Yellowstone) We Facetime'd with GMa and the kids at midnight. Jack was still going strong! (He was a BEAR the next day though.) He was a big fan of the Happy New Year headbands GMa got for them to wear. We slept in the next morning & then went out to GMa's house for lunch...gotta have black-eyed peas for the new year! I can't believe that it is 2022. The fact that we graduated 22 years ago makes me feel OLD!
2021 was a really good year...praying that 2022 is even better!
The weather from 2021 to 2022 took a big turn...
Madi made this CLUE game with her little squishy animals...her attention to detail and thoroughness is impressive, for sure!
