It's fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A! (Of the Rockies in Estes Park! ) I bet you can't read that without singing it in your mind! For real--they had everything there...we hiked, rode horses, did archery, played mini-golf, went roller skating, played basketball, made mosaic art projects, visited the library, went into Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park, did an escape room, and still somehow had time to relax and enjoy God's beautiful creation! This truly was the coolest place and I would love to go back again soon.
When Brian told me the rooms didn't have air conditioning, I was almost out...but he assured me we wouldn't be hot, and for the most part he was right. Our room had 2 bunk beds and a queen bed, so it fit us perfectly. It wasn't exactly fancy...Jonah was not impressed at all...in fact, his exact comment was "I'm pretty sure this is the worst hotel we've ever stayed in." LOL! Spoiled much?! But the price was right & all of the fun things to do at the YMCA definitely made up for it!
Falls Creek started for us before the kids were even out of school for the summer, and ended on July 29th. Then it was straight to NYC & Portugal for GoStudents. All that to say, we finally had a window of time right here at the end of the summer to get away as a family for a few days.
As we drove home from this trip, I was sad. Sad that summer is ending, sad that my kids are growing up so fast, sad that seasons change so quickly. But I'm also so thankful for the precious moments and memories we have shared together this summer!
We almost didn't go on this trip, because of money and it being so close to school starting, but I'm so glad we did. What finally convinced me to go was Brian saying, "We can always make more money. We will never have this time back with our kids." So off we went!
No regrets here! This was the perfect ending to our busy summer!
Here is the full QUIK video of our Estes Park trip!
Ready for a road trip!!
We got to Estes Park around dinner time and ate at a bbq place. We went to a gift shop and took some fun pics while we waited for our table to be ready.
Jack didn't know what to think about this moving, noise making dinosaur at first.
He clearly decided he liked "Bumpy" the dinosaur! And we had to have this hat!
Daddy picked the perfect shirt to wear to Colorado!
Our little pig lover was not excited about eating at a bbq place.
As we pulled into the YMCA, a huge elk was right there on the side of the road. Very cool!
We saw a lot of wildlife while we were there.
