Falls Creek

Well, Falls Creek this year was definitely...interesting! What no one could ever have anticipated was that it would rain so much that the entire camp would have to be shut down and evacuated on Thursday afternoon. The flooding was insane! On Wednesday morning, Madison woke up with pink eye, so I loaded up the kids and took them to spend the day/night at G-Ma's house. We were planning on the girls going with her that afternoon to do VBS anyway. It poured down rain that entire day and all 160+ of our people were stuck in the cabin, so I was kind of glad I missed out on that! They even cancelled tabernacle that night because of the flooding. They said the last time they did that was during WWII...wow!

On Thursday morning I took the girls to VBS (Madison was better) and Jonah and I headed back to FC. There was a rock slide on I-35 from all of the rain, but thankfully it was south of the Davis exit so I was able to make it. We got there in time to go with Brian to the Missions Break Out session that he was teaching. Right after that, they called a meeting with all leaders and informed us that camp was ending early, due to infrastructure issues. (Trash, sewage, etc.) It was definitely a disappointment, because we basically only had two regular days of camp. But, God has a plan in all things, even if it isn't the way we think it should be.

The girls did get to participate in the American theme night, we made a couple trips to the ICEE stand, they got to hang out with teenagers, get henna tattoos, and sleep in bunk beds for two nights at least! So we still had a good time!

I have to take a second to brag on Brian...he is amazing at what he does! He did an amazing job of switching gears and getting everyone ready to leave unexpectedly. That is quite a feat with so many people! We definitely left Falls Creek feeling a little discouraged, just because it didn't go as we had hoped. But we know that in the midst of the craziness, God was still at work.

And hey, now we can say that we survived the Falls Creek Flood of 2015!

On Tuesday night we didn't go to Tabernacle. It's just hard with the kids. So they took over the ping pong table while everyone was gone!

We woke up to this Wednesday morning...red, crusty eyes...poor sweet girl! John called her in an antibiotic and some eye ointment that we picked up once we got to Newcastle.

This was on Thursday...we unloaded our stuff and got it set back up just in time to find out we had to leave...ugh! Jonah looks rather excited about not having to share the bed with his sisters!

It was pretty cool that they asked Brian to do a Missions Break Out session. He did a great job!

Daddy had a great clean-up crew! In all seriousness, our people did a great job of working together to get everything done.

And here is everybody coming down the big hill, waiting to load the bus. A bunch of bummed out kids...but, there's always next year! And, thankfully we at least got to have part of camp. They had to cancel the entire week of camp following this.

Since we had to leave early, we missed out on the group picture. I took these on Sunday at the FC report night. Even Jonah had a shirt to wear! (It was about 3x's too big, but we made it work!)
