Brian was so thankful to be able to make the trip to Guatemala again this February. I love it that he loves Missions, and I'm very glad that he has opportunities like this.
That being said, this was a challenging week for me, for many reasons...the biggest one being that I had a cookie order for over 125 dozen cookies. Of course that would happen when he was gone! Thank goodness for my mom...I would never make it without her. I really DO NOT know how single parents do it. I spent 2 or 3 nights at home on my own with the kids, and WOW! Enough said! One of these days, maybe I will be able to go too. For now, my job is at home taking care of our babies so that he can go.
The night before he left, Brian asked the girls if they had a stuffed animal that they would like to send for a little girl or boy in Guatemala. Well, they both went to looking for the others stuffed animals. Ha! Madison gladly gave her penguin, but Mackenzie was just distraught over never seeing her stuffed animals again. It was such a big deal to her that we just told her she didn't have to do it. At that point, she picked out some My Little Pony's that were McDonald's toys. We obviously need to work on teaching her about giving and sacrificing a little more! I think that's such a hard thing for kids to understand. It just breaks my heart to look at these sweet little Guatemalan kids...so dirty and poor...with only a cup of coffee and a tortilla to eat for an entire day...and here we sit, with a beautiful home, rooms full of toys, closets of clothes, and all the food we can eat, wanting for nothing. How blessed we are, and how often we totally take it for granted. Lord, please help me to teach my children to give, and to think of others as better than themselves.
Each night we were able to Facetime with Brian and that was wonderful. We were very happy to pick Daddy up at the airport on Saturday night at 10:30. The girls made him little signs and went running and squealing when they saw him. He brought the girls little Guatemalan dresses, and a hat for Jonah. He did good!

Forget the fact that it was almost midnight...they just had to try on their new Guatemalan dresses! (A special thanks to Kari for shopping for these for the girls!)
Daddy picked out Jonah's hat all on his own! He even brought me a little Christmas ornament, which I love.
