Here we are, starting our 8th summer at Falls Creek! The first year we spent here, Mackenzie was 9 years old, Madi was 7 years old and Jonah was 3 years old. While Falls Creek is a very fun place to spend our summers, this has also caused us to give up our "normal" summers to some degree. We always remind our kids that they are a big part of Daddy's ministry at Falls Creek & our family works as a team! If I can just be very transparent and real for a minute--sometimes I just wish we could have a normal summer at home--sometimes I don't like being at camp at all--sometimes I just get tired of it all. But it's in those moments that I remember that this is the platform and ministry God has given us, and I am so grateful for that!
This summer is going to look a little different than past summers, just because the kids have so many activities.
Here is a snapshot of what our summer schedule looked like, in regards to actually being at Falls Creek. I know its going to fly by!
Week One - Girls at Cheer Camp Tues-Fri / Me & boys at FC / Me, GMa & Jack go to Dallas to get them Thurs/Fri / All back to FC to spend Fri night
Week Two - Mackenzie Super Summer / Madi & Jonah VBS with GMa / Me & Jack at FC
Jack's 3rd Birthday party in between weeks two and three!
Week Three - Mackenzie & Madi STBC Falls Creek / Boys at camp with me until... / Jonah CrossTimbers Friday-Monday
Week Four - Everyone at camp Mon-Tues / Me & kids at home the rest of the week
4th of July weekend / GMa's house
Week Five - Finally everyone together at camp all week! Open Door week--hang with friends!
Week Six - Madi Falls Creek with Capitol Hill / Everyone else at FC with the fam.
Week Seven - The kids and I spent most of this week at home.
Week Eight - The kids and I were just there for the first few days of the week. Mackenzie and I left for Portugal on Friday, the very last day of camp, so we had to go home to get ready for that.
We basically come home in between all of this, long enough to do our laundry and check on the house. Maybe sleep in our own beds for a night or two, and then repack and head out for the next thing! I do feel a bit like a nomad in the summers, but it is fun and I love it (even when I don't always like it), and I am so thankful that God would have this purpose and plan for our lives!
Now, on to a summer full of ICEES, golf cart rides, caf food, praise and worship, and hanging with thousands of teenagers every week! Let's go!
