Fall Break : The Duck Lodge

We went to Broken Bow/Idabel over Fall Break this year. It was both for work and play...Brian was working on the GoStudents Broken Bow project and speaking at Trinity in Idabel on Wednesday night, so we thought it would be a fun way to spend Fall Break. We were originally planning to just stay in a cheap hotel for a few nights, but Andrew at Trinity said he had a better option for us....the Duck Lodge. We had no clue what that meant, but we were grateful & gladly accepted...imagine our surprise when this is what we pulled up to around midnight on Tuesday night!! Wow! The Jennings own this amazing "Duck Lodge" and they generously let us stay there for a few nights. It was truly the coolest place ever!! Andrew and Rachel put this whole basket full of snacks and drinks together for us, which was so very nice. Brian was gone all day on Wednesday, and the kids and I enjoyed just sleeping in and relaxing and eating snacks! Then that night we went to church at Trinity, which is always fun. Looking back, I am so so glad we did that, because a few short weeks later the church was destroyed by a tornado. In November of all things. So sad about that!
The original plan was to spend Tuesday and Wednesday nights at the Duck Lodge and then camp out Thursday and Friday nights in Broken Bow. I think Jonah was the only one who really wanted to leave this beautiful, comfortable place and go sleep in a dirty tent! Welllllll....when we took the keys to the Duck Lodge back to Linnea she said we were welcome to come back if tent camping didn't work out...so we only camped Thursday night and then went back to the Duck Lodge for Friday night. LOL! At least Jonah got one night of tent camping!
Staying here was a very unexpected blessing and it made our Fall Break so much fun! We are hoping to go back one of these days! Southeast Oklahoma will always hold a special place in our hearts...we love our friends there and visiting always brings back such sweet memories of Mackenzie's birthplace.
We enjoyed watching Christmas movies & I worked on Jack's stocking while we were there! =0)
The girls slept in this room...
I slept with the boys in this room...and Brian slept upstairs in another room by himself! =0) There was plenty of room to spread out!
It was HUGE!
The kids loved this room!
This room holds a lot of special memories for us! The one that stands out the most was filling that stage with sand and turning the room into a luau for the Christmas party!
Jack enjoyed the big bathtub on Thursday morning! It was pretty much like a swimming pool to him!
