Falls Creek #4

Our last day of school was on Wednesday the 22nd, and we moved down to FC on Thursday the 23rd! It was a whirlwind! We just went down for a couple of nights to get some of our things set up, and then went back home for Memorial Day weekend. I really can't believe this will be our 4th summer at Falls Creek! How is that even possible?! Wow! I'm really looking forward to this summer. I think it gets a little easier every year. This year we are really excited to have a new "home"...it is downstairs & there are actually TWO bedrooms!! YEA!! It is set up like an actual apartment, and I think it is going to give us a much more normal feeling this summer. Plus it will be really nice to not have to lug our stuff up and down those stairs every week!

It is AMAZING how much stuff we end up taking to camp. What can I say?! We basically live there for 10 weeks...bring on the stuff! 

Jonah is super excited to sleep on the top bunk this year! 

(I'm super excited that the kids have their own bedroom this year!)

We also got upgraded to a 6-seater golf cart, that fits our family better! 

Mackenzie's Last Day of 6th Grade

On the last day of school, after class parties, there was an awards assembly in the auditorium to finish out the year. Mrs. Kemery contacted me a few weeks earlier and told me that Mackenzie would be receiving an award, so we would want to make sure we were there. Of course we wouldn't miss it! Each year, two "Character Awards" are given in each grade, and Mackenzie received one of the 6th grade awards. How special!! This was just the best possible way to end her 6th grade year and her elementary experience. The character traits Mrs. Kemery recognized in her were "commitment and gentleness," which both describe Mackenzie very accurately. We are extremely proud of Mackenzie's character & it meant a lot to us that it was rewarded in this way! She didn't know that she was receiving an award, so the look of surprise on her face when she crossed the stage and got her plaque was so sweet!

The 6th grade also performed the song "As We Go" that they did for the Graduation ceremony, but this time there was a little twist...I don't even know how to explain it in words, except just to say watch the video! It was hilarious & everyone loved it so much! It was a fun send-off from the 6th graders! (I still cried!)

We went to lunch at Steak & Shake with some of Mackenzie's friends after the program ended, and then kicked off our summer break with a trip to the dentist...fun! NOT!

I already can't wait for Madison to have Mrs. Kemery in a few years!

Madison's Last Day of 4th Grade

Oh sweet Madi Joy!

There were many days during the months of September-December, when I wondered if we had really messed up by moving Madison to a new school. Madison cried pretty much every single day from the beginning of the school year, until mid-December. It was rough...but she pushed through & now she loves CHA! It was very hard for her to leave her BFF, Adlee...almost like a security blanket being taken away. And on top of that, Mrs. Newton is a very different personality than Mrs. Van Curen, and Madison had to get used to that. That being said...Madison LOVES Mrs. Newton...it just took some time! =0) 

We are so proud of her! 

Mrs. Newton gave her the "Sweet-tart Award" for being a sweet friend to everyone, and she also received an award for the most improved reader! She was recognized for the character trait "Virtue," which I think fits her perfectly. We are thankful for a good 4th grade year!! 

The girls way outnumbered the boys in her class this year!
