While Daddy was in Colorado for camp, the kids and I got to spend a whole week at G-Ma's house. It was one of my favorite weeks of the whole summer! We played outside. stayed up late, slept in, went to the donut shop, went to the library, spent time with Grandma Shaw and Poppa & Louise, went fishing, ate lots of delicious food that G-Ma cooked, the kids loved cuddling up in G-Ma's bed to watch tv, they painted, we worked on our summer reading lists, went swimming, swung in the hammock, ate snow cones, caught lightning bugs, hunted for locust shells, went to Pops...I mean, it just goes on and on! G-Ma made three home-cooked meals while we were there, and it was a real treat! I love being surrounded by family! I know that the kids will always have sweet memories of spending time at G-Ma's house in the summers!
How special that they get to spend time with their Great-Grandparents like this! If only my Dad were sitting there watching them play... This time of the year always brings back memories of the summer he died. We spent two weeks in Newcastle that summer with him, and it was such a sweet, but sad time. I know he must surely be smiling down on moments like this!
It's a good thing G-Ma has a King-sized bed! Even so, she usually sleeps sideways across the end of the bed because the girls sprawl out so much! They sleep so well in her bed!
They spent a lot of time playing in the treehouse!
Madison loves putting mail in the mailbox on the treehouse!
I love this picture that G-Ma painted inside the treehouse.
They are working on painting the steps up to the loft in rainbow colors. So fun!
I'm not sure what to think about G-Ma's new sign!
G-Ma got several beautiful hair styles from the "hair saloner!"
They love playing with the toys at the donut shop. Jonah has finally learned that he doesn't get to take them with him when it's time to leave.
We went to the donut shop one morning when Grandma Shaw and her "Donut Dollies" friends were there. They go every week on Tuesdays, I think! Needless to say, Jonah was the center of attention!
The girls got some cute new nightgowns!
Chloe gets lots of lovin' when we visit!
We went over to Emily's house to have a picnic and swim one day with Sharon & Emma. Madison & Emma are buddies!
Halfway through July, we are almost done with our summer reading! Yea!!
Louise found this salon set for Madison & she said that she just HAD to get it for her! So sweet! Madison loves it!
Like a bunch of little ducks!
Madison loved hunting for locust shells! They're so creepy looking, but they are cool! This is something I always remember doing as a kid too. Especially when we would visit G.G. and Poppa Beets in Tulsa.
Playing & painting in the treehouse on the morning we left. It's always sad to leave after we've been there for a week.
G-Ma went to Wal-Mart with us on our way out of town and bought the girls new backpacks and lunchboxes for school! I don't know what we'd do without her!
