4th of July Fun at the Lake

We went to the lake on Friday afternoon to spend the 4th of July. On Friday night we popped fireworks and played cards. I got a little frustrated because all three of our kids wanted to sit inside instead of pop fireworks. Jonah wailed and was completely afraid of them, Mackenzie just kept covering her ears and was near tears, and Madison didn't feel well at all. It was kind of a bust for us, so we just went into the motor home where we were sleeping and went to bed.

The weekend didn't go exactly like we thought, because Madison was sick and we ended up having to leave before the fireworks on Saturday night. I love having a Pediatrician that does TeleDoc so that we can get medicine even when we are out of town and not able to see him. Brian & his dad and brothers went golfing Saturday morning and picked up Madison's medicine on their way back. We think she probably had strep throat. We still managed to have a fun time, despite her not feeling great. She's a tough little cookie! After tubing and swimming, we cleaned up and had daddy burgers. We had bought rocket pops and I bought cute red white & blue outfits for the kids, but the picture above is literally the best one I got! LOL! Right after dinner, Madison was just acting miserable, so we made the decision to go ahead and go back home instead of going on the boat to see fireworks. It's about a 45 minute boat ride to get over there, and I just didn't feel comfortable doing that with her. Mackenzie was completely devastated and begged to stay, so we let her spend the night and ride back with Danny & Amy the next day. Despite the not-ideal circumstances, there were many sweet and fun moments on this 4th of July!

Jonah was very nice and shared the iPad he was watching when his cousin Olivia got there! He was kind of giving her a look though... =0)

This was right before we decided to leave. You can't tell it by looking at the picture, but Madison was burning up and acting like she was going to throw up.

It was a strange feeling pulling out and leaving Mackenzie to go watch fireworks on 4th of July without us. I was a little sad about it actually, but I know she had a great time with her cousins!
