We left on Friday morning and drove all day to Galveston, so we would be there to board the ship Saturday morning. On Thursday evening, Jonah mentioned that his stomach hurt, but he wasn't making a big deal of it. Friday morning, it was still hurting him a little, but we figured it would get better as the day went along. We made it to Galveston around 6:00 PM and went straight to the beach for some fresh air. We didn't know it at the time, but this 45 minutes we spent on the beach was the only beach time we would get this whole week. As we were walking around, it was clear that Jonah just did not feel well at all. I remember thinking that we couldn't get on the cruise ship without having him checked out. Mother's intuition, maybe? After a quick walk on the beach--Jack's 1st time ever in the ocean--we headed back to the car and made our way to our hotel. Then we began the process of taking Jonah to the emergency room and eventually finding out he needed his appendix removed. Sometimes things just don't go according to plan, and this was definitely one of those times. =0(
