Where's Dora?

I went to Wal-Mart to buy groceries this past Saturday, and as I walked in the door greeter told me that Dora was coming to the toy department at 12:00! That was an hour away, so I called Brian and had him get Mackenzie ready and bring her to Wal-Mart. She was SO excited! They got there at about 11:30, and I was done shopping so we just walked around and waited until noon. They had this cute little stand set up and they were giving out cupcakes to celebrate Dora's 10th Birthday! Well, that was all good and fine, but we were waiting for DORA to COME! Noon came and went...12:15....still no Dora! Finally, one of the Wal-Mart employees came and very apologetically told us that there had been some miscommunication and Dora was not there. Well, this was met by many, many tears from broken-hearted Mackenzie. Being told that you are going to get to meet Dora, and then being let down like this is very disappointing for a little girl. What happened was that the little old lady at the door didn't know what she was talking about and she told everyone that Dora was coming when in fact, that was never the plan at all. Well, I am not one to complain about things usually, but after 5 minutes when Mackenzie was still crying, I went to find a manager. I was the third person to approach him about it. He was very sorry and even offered to give us a $20 gift card so we could buy Mack a Dora doll, but I declined. Sometimes we just have to learn disappointing lessons in life. Later that night, I posted on facebook that I was thankful that this is the biggest thing we have to be disappointed in right now in our life. We told Mackenzie that Dora must have been out exploring! After all, that is what she does best! (This picture was taken BEFORE we found out she wasn't coming!)
